Cabbage soup is one of the fastest weight-loss diets. With this, weight can be reduced by about 10 pounds (4.5 kg) in just seven days. There is no clear evidence of the origin of this diet, but it has been popular since the 1980s.
Some articles on the Internet refer to this as a diet developed in a hospital to help patients lose weight quickly before heart surgeries. Therefore, it is also known as the Mayo Clinic Diet and the Sacred Heart Hospital Diet.
Cabbage soup diet severely limits your daily food intake, and thus limits your daily caloric intake. Reducing daily calorie intake is one of the main reasons for weight loss, the same is the link between cabbage soup and weight loss. Also, due to the high fiber content of the diet, urine excretes more water in the body than before, which is another reason for losing the body’s water weight.
However, it is imperative that pregnant women, those seeking medical attention for specific diseases and people with special nutritional needs, getting medical advice before entering this diet. Also, the cabbage soup diet is not suitable for long-term use because of the many limitations set out in this, as it can cause nutritional deficiencies.
