Ginger: Health and medicinal benefits

Ginger is a perennial herb with a rhizome (underground part of the stem), and this grows up to 50cm. This belongs to the “Zingiberaceae” family. The slender oblong-shaped leaves are about 15cm long and 1.5cm wide. Also, small flowers are light yellow and purple, covered with a sheath in the middle of the plant.

Many people know that it is used as a flavoring agent in cooking foods but don’t know its medicinal value. Mainly, it’s useful in controlling blood glucose levels and as a treatment for gastrointestinal disorders as well as improving brain function. Besides these primary benefits, there are so many other nutrients and medicinal values of this. Let’s see what those are.

Ginger for Diabetes

Diabetes is a hereditary disease for some, and others, it is a result of improper diets over time.
Research conducted in Iran has revealed that a chemical called “Phytochemicals” in ginger can lower blood sugar levels. In here, several patients having type 2 diabetes have been therapeutically treated with ginger for more than 30 days. After the treatments, all participants have shown positive results. Furthermore, studies at Columbia University in the United States have found that the boiled essence of ginger can burn harmful fat.
However, the inner workings of the body have not yet been identified determinedly by using ginger to control diabetes. But researches, as mentioned above, have shown positive results. The most important thing is these natural treatments do not cause side effects, like Western medicines.

How to use effectively: In here, ginger should be added to your daily diet for at least six weeks. For better results, a regular small amount of consumption is more effective than short-term overcapacity.

For Nausea & Indigestion

According to the results of the “PLoS” study published in 2015 has shown that a powerful component in ginger called “6-Shogaol” has the ability to fight against breast cancer stem cells. The authors of the study say this natural treatment is more effective than conventional chemotherapy. Moreover, another experiment done by using mice to test the effect of ginger on cancer cells has also shown excellent results.
